About Shah Amanat International Airport
Shah Amanat International Airport (IATA: CGP, ICAO: VGEG) is the main airport serving Chittagong and is Bangladesh's second-largest airport after Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. Operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) and located in the Patenga area, it handles approximately 21 per cent of Bangladesh's total air traffic.
The airport was formerly named MA Hannan International Airport, renamed Shah Amanat International Airport on 2 April 2005 in honour of the Islamic saint Shah Amanat. The Chittagong to Dhaka route alone accounts for over 75% of all weekly departures.
