An enjoyable one day tour to Madaripur
Madaripur district was named after the Sufi saint Sayed Badiuddin Ahmed Zinda Shah Madar. This district has a a great heritage of folklore culture. Tilll now many cultures are practiced in here like the songs of Kirtan, Gazi, Dhuan and etc. In Madaripur many traditional fairs also take place like Trinath fair, Rath and Ganesh Pagla’s Kumb fair, Sankranti fair and etc.
How to Go?
It will take you around 4 to 5 hours to reach Madaripur. Either you can take your private car or go there by bus.
You have to start at 7am from Gabtoli Bus Stand which will directly take you to your destination and will cost you around 450 Taka. On your way you can witness the mighty Padma River and the newly built Expressway. This ride will definitely give you a feeling of abroad.
Hopefully you will reach there by noon and from there you will need to hire a ride which will take you to the famous sites.
Where to Visit?
Thousands of people visit the Dargah of Hazrat Shah Madar (R) where you can visit too. It is located on the banks of Arial Kha River. Usually people tend to visit this Dargah once they visit Madaripur District as they strongly believe that if they visit this Dargah, their problems will get ease and their wishes will come true. And others visit this place to witness a historical place.
Algi Kazi Bari Mosque is one of the oldest mosques of Madaripur district, located in the village of Algi in Bahadurpur Union. This mosque is an important place to visit as this was built almost three hundred years ago, next to the Algi pond. Many believes that this mosque was built by divine preachers who came from Arab.
Sokuni Lake is locally knows as Shakuni Dighi located at the heart of Madaripur city. This spectacular place enhances the natural beauty of the city. There are plenty of fishes in this sweet water lake for which they have separated the lake in two parts so that in one part fishes can get cultivated.
Sokuni Dighi is more likely a recreation center for which the place gets really crowded. Locals spend their leisure time with their family and friend in here.
One thing is a must have if you visit this place and that is the sweet shop. This place is well-known to all for the delicious sweets from the traditional sweet shops.
Other than these places there are many other spots to visit in Madaripur like the famous poet Sunil Gangopadhyay house, Kalikhola Zamindar Bari, Mithapur Zamindar Bari, Senapati Dighi and etc.
