What documents do you need to apply for a Schengen visa?
Just like any other visa, there are some documents that are required to apply for a Schengen visa. Most of these will match any other visa document. Let's take a look at what documents you’ll need to get a Schengen visa:
- Visa application form – the form must be signed by the applicant.
- Two recent photos – the photos must not be more than three months old in any case.
- A valid passport. Note that it should be valid for at least three more months after departure. If you have an old passport, that should also be submitted.
- Round trip reservation or your complete travel plan (itinerary). Date of travel and flight number must be clearly written here.
- Travel insurance policy, with minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros.
Proof of Accommodation, i.e. a document showing where you will stay during your stay in the Schengen countries. It could be –
- Hotel/Hostel Booking or
- Rental or tenancy agreement or
- Invitation letter
- Proof of financial solvency, eg 6 months bank statement or sponsorship letter. A 6 months bank statement of the sponsor must be attached to the sponsorship letter. You can also show proof of financial solvency in a combination of the two if you wish.
- Proof of payment of visa fee – Visa fee for Schengen visa is €80 (€80 or around Rs.10,000) for adults and €45 (€45 or around Rs.5,200) for children aged 6 to 12 years.

- Last 6 months bank statement of current bank
- Leave permission from the employer
- Income Tax Return (ITR) form
For self-employed occupations, such as traders:
- A copy of business license

Europe
Albania

However, if you have a valid Schengen tourist visa, you can visit Kosovo with a Bangladeshi passport and stay there for a maximum of 15 days. In this case, your entry will be completely visa-free, meaning no visa other than the Schengen visa will be required.
Montenegro
Being an applicant for the European Union, with the possibility of obtaining membership of the European Union in the future, you can visit Montenegro with a Schengen tourist visa. With a Schengen tourist visa you can stay in Montenegro for a maximum of 30 days.
North Macedonia
Like Albania and Montenegro, North Macedonia is also an applicant for the European Union, i.e. a candidate for EU membership in the future. So if you have a valid Schengen tourist visa, you can visit North Macedonia with a Bangladeshi passport and stay there for a maximum of 15 days. And in this case your entry will be completely visa-free; That is, no visa is required except for Schengen visa.

If you have a Schengen tourist visa, you can visit Romania with a Bangladeshi passport. Therefore,these are the things you need to keep in mind:
- You can stay in Romania for a maximum of 90 days with a Schengen tourist visa. After that, if you want to go to Romania again, you have to take a break of at least 90 days. That is, you cannot stay in Romania for more than 90 consecutive days out of a total of 180 days with a Schengen tourist visa.
- You do not need to apply for any national visa within these 90 days.
Serbia
Serbia is another European country that is an applicant for the European Union, meaning that it may receive membership of the European Union in the future but is not yet a member of the Union. The visa policy of Serbia is the same as that of Schengen countries and citizens of all countries including Bangladesh can visit Serbia with a Schengen visa. Things to consider:
- You can stay in Serbia for a maximum of 90 days with a Schengen tourist visa. After that, if you want to go to Serbia again, you have to take a break of at least 90 days. That is, a Schengen tourist visa cannot stay in Serbia for more than 90 consecutive days out of a total of 180 days.

Turkey

Africa
Sao Tome and Principe
Although the country of Sao Tome and Principe is located in Central Africa, a Bangladeshi passport holder can travel to Sao Tome and Principe with a Schengen tourist visa. But for this you need to ensure a few things such as:
- The Schengen tourist visa must be valid
- You can spend a total of 15 days in Sao Tome and Principe over a six-month period. If you want to stay for more than 15 days, you have to apply for a visa again or apply for a visa extension.
North America
Mexico
You can travel to Mexico with a Bangladeshi passport if you have a valid Schengen tourist visa without needing to apply for a Mexico visa. However, you must submit the Schengen tourist visa with your passport when entering Mexico.
Caribbean Region
Antigua and Barbuda
